Picture a six-person architecture practice in Kranj. IT falls to whoever is “good with computers”, usually the youngest designer: he is the one fixing the plotter when it vanishes from the network, configuring a new colleague's phone for mail and, late on a Friday, wondering whether last month's drawings were ever backed up. None of it appears in his contract, and every week it swallows hours that could have been billed. Apply lifts that burden remotely for one flat monthly price. Your agreement names the address to write to, the reply time you can count on and everything the package includes. The designer gets his drawing board back.

What we take off your hands

This is for firms where nobody has “IT” in their job title, yet work grinds to a halt when a laptop misbehaves: a bookkeeping office with four accountants, a dental surgery, an insurance agent, a small holiday-let business in Piran, or a sole trader whose online shop started at home and now employs three people.

Tell us about your business

A new laptop that sets itself up

Buy the machine wherever suits you: a local shop, an online retailer or the manufacturer directly. We prepare a profile in Intune, so when someone signs in with a work account for the first time, the apps install themselves, the disk gets encrypted and the security settings arrive. Whether that happens at the office or at a kitchen table makes no difference.

Email on your own domain

When quotes still go out from personal Gmail or Siol addresses, a client cannot easily tell a genuine message from a forged one. We set up mailboxes on your domain in Microsoft 365 or Google Workspace, with shared calendars and folders whose permissions are clear. We keep an eye on licences too, so no money goes on a mailbox whose owner moved on last spring.

Tidy access to accounting tools and e-invoices

We sort out who signs in to Minimax, Birokrat or Metakocka with which account, help open separate users on your e-invoicing provider's portal and move document exchange with your accountant into a protected folder rather than email attachments. It is also agreed in advance who issues invoices when the usual person is on holiday. Tax questions stay with your accountant.

Security sized for a small team

Multi-factor sign-in on every account, centrally managed antivirus, a shared password manager and a simple record of where you keep customer and staff personal data, which GDPR expects anyway. Instead of a hundred-page manual nobody opens, a handful of rules the team genuinely follows.

Real people answering

On weekdays between 9:00 and 17:00 Central European Time, use the enquiry form, send an email, or book a Teams or Google Meet call. Start guarantees a first response inside four hours. In the quiet spells we roll out patches and check last night's backup logs, which means nobody on your side has to.

When does Start stop being enough?

There is no magic headcount. In practice, four situations usually prompt a conversation about a bigger plan or an extra service.

A server in the office Pantheon or the project archive runs on a PC under a desk That machine needs patching, monitoring and its own backup
Evenings and Saturdays The shop or front desk stays open after 17:00 This is where 24/7 support makes sense
4 hours is too long No booking system or till means no takings On Business we respond within one hour
More than 10 The team has outgrown ten users Business at €990 a month plus VAT fits better

Small firms rarely suffer most from lacking a server. They suffer from nobody knowing where the master keys are. Typically the domain is registered under the web agency that built the site long ago, Microsoft 365 global admin rights hang off a personal mailbox belonging to someone who left, and the router login lives only in the head of the engineer the ISP once sent. On a quiet day this is harmless. On the day outgoing mail bounces or a mailbox gets taken over, regaining control can drag on for days. Our first job is therefore to bring all of those credentials under the company's own name and keep a register of who controls each one. You keep that register, contract or no contract.

Frequently asked questions

Small-office problems are mostly about logins, licence counts, mailboxes, patches and the printer that has wandered off again. Almost all of them are dealt with through a secure remote session, frequently in a matter of minutes. If a hand is needed, say to power-cycle the router or swap a cable to a different port, one of your staff or your regular local technician does it while we guide them and confirm it worked.

The same day we close the account, hand the mailbox to a colleague or turn it into a shared mailbox, free up the licence and check which folders and apps the person could reach. If the laptop comes back, Intune resets it for the next user. If it does not, it wipes itself the moment it goes online. Skip this step and former staff accounts can stay open for years.

You should. Qualified certificates such as those from SIGEN-CA or Halcom belong to an individual, and what they sign carries that individual's legal signature. Left on a communal PC, the certificate lets whoever happens to be sitting there submit filings on your behalf. Issuing certificates is not something Apply does. What we can do is sit down with you and your accountant to decide which tasks require a personal certificate, put each one on the correct computer and get the PINs out of sticky notes and into a password vault.

That is not ours to guarantee. Slovene Enterprise Fund (SPS) vouchers and similar calls set their own eligibility terms, and Apply holds no authorised adviser status in them. The text of the live call, or the fund itself, will tell you which expenses count. Grant or no grant, routine IT help, backups and protection can carry on with us.

Who gets in, yes. In many small web shops the whole team uses the owner's login for the WooCommerce admin or a selling platform, with the password passed round a Viber group. We set up individual logins carrying just the rights each person needs, turn on MFA and lock the API tokens used by integrations in a vault. What you sell and at what price is your team's call, and connecting stock and orders to marketplaces is covered by a different service.

We begin with an online meeting and a look at your systems from afar. You come away with an inventory of hardware, user accounts and programs, with the weak spots marked. Pressing fixes such as MFA and backing up Microsoft 365 land within the first weeks, and everything else is scheduled. What we cover and how fast we react is fixed in the agreement before work begins.
