Digital strategy

Almost every company keeps an unofficial wish list. Take a furniture exporter in the Savinja valley employing forty-five people. Sales want a B2B portal for retailers in Croatia and Italy, production is tired of planning in three Excel workbooks, the bookkeeper keeps asking when e-invoices will land straight in Pantheon, and the managing director saw at a trade fair how AI can draft a quotation in minutes. Meanwhile a German customer has sent an information security questionnaire with a reply deadline. Each item makes sense, yet there is money and manpower for perhaps a third of them. A digital strategy turns that list into a justified sequence: what delivers most for least, what has to come first so that later steps become possible at all, and what is consciously parked. You receive a working document with amounts, named owners and dates on which you revisit the choices. We do the work remotely, through video workshops and shared documents.

Scope of the service

Strategy is not about picking software. It answers where limited money and attention should go so that, two years on, the company runs noticeably better.

Every idea on the table

Before the first workshop each department head fills in a short form: what slows them down, what they would change and how much time the problem eats today. This surfaces suggestions that would otherwise stay in corridor chats, including the ones nobody dares raise.

Snapshot of the current estate, with annual costs

A register of systems, subscriptions and contracts showing yearly spend, owner and notice period. Companies regularly discover they pay for two tools doing the same job, or for seats belonging to people who left long ago. Savings found here often fund part of the roadmap.

Dependencies between projects

An AI assistant for quotations is pointless while product data lives in three separate spreadsheets. A B2B portal presupposes tidy price lists and stock figures. We map these links so you do not start building from the roof down.

Buy, subscribe or develop

For each need we compare a cloud service, a licensed package and bespoke development. Beyond price we weigh exit costs, support for local requirements such as eSLOG 2.0 e-invoices, and whether the option hinges on a single individual.

Regulatory calendar

GDPR and ZVOP-2, whether NIS2 and ZInfV-1 reach you directly or through your customers, the announced obligation for B2B e-invoices, and the EU AI Act. We turn this into a timeline of obligations that dovetails with the other projects. Your lawyer confirms the legal reading.

How much change the team can absorb

People rolling out a new system still have their day jobs. As a rule the roadmap schedules no more than one major project per quarter, and states for each how many hours your staff will need to put in.

Possible co-financing

Next to individual steps we flag where it may be worth looking at Slovenian Enterprise Fund (SPS) calls, digitalisation vouchers or EU money. Apply is not an authorised adviser, writes no applications and makes no promise of approval.

How the work runs

For a business of up to around 50 people the engagement usually fits into a few weeks. You get a precise estimate after the introductory call.

01

Gathering initiatives

Department heads complete the short form while we go through the register of systems and contracts. By the first joint session we already know where the tensions lie.

02

Leadership workshop

Over video we agree two or three measurable goals by which success will be judged, plus the things the business regards as untouchable.

03

Scoring and ranking

Each initiative is scored on benefit, cost, risk, dependencies and internal hours. From that comes a proposed order, which we then fine-tune with you.

04

Handover and quarterly check-in

You receive the roadmap with its one-page summary and a task list for the first three months. If you wish, we meet for an hour each quarter to bring it up to date.

Foundations before upper floors. Tidy admin access, backups that have actually been test-restored and a single source of truth for customers and products are not exciting projects. Skip them, though, and every later step costs more and drags on longer. That is why they sit near the start of almost every roadmap we write, even when nobody put them on the wish list.

Your questions answered

No, it is simply shorter. For a small firm the roadmap often runs to a few pages and covers twelve months. The point stays the same: avoid spending on a project that ought to come later.

The director or owner in the workshop and at sign-off, department heads for the form and a brief chat, and whoever looks after IT for the snapshot of systems. In total that is typically a few hours per person.

That is a common and useful starting point. A table of benefits, costs and dependencies moves the debate from opinion to numbers. Where views still differ, we record both options and the date by which you will choose.

Only to the extent of marking which steps might qualify. Apply is not an authorised adviser, does not prepare applications and cannot guarantee co-financing. Please confirm conditions with the body running the call.

We charge €50 per hour plus VAT against an up-front estimate, or a fixed fee once the scope is clear. The roadmap is yours, and any team can put it into practice.
